GENERATIONS of a family who are normally separated all over the world were reunited in Leighton for a momentous occasion.
Gertrude Eatwell, who is known to her loved ones as ‘Bubbles’, celebrated her 100th birthday in style on Sunday, with a special buffet at her home in Copper Beech Way.
Her grandson Jamie, 42, is a sales director who moved abroad seven years ago, but is often home to catch up with his beloved gran.
He said: ““My gran is a proud head of the family, always immaculately dressed with a wicked sense of humour and a raucous, contagious laugh.
“The occasion brought all of the generations together, which made it a really fantastic day as we got caterers in and had champagne on arrival.”
Described as being a lady who is extremely active and full of life, Bubbles still takes regular trips to the local Conservative Club for the odd brandy, which she has done ever since moving to the town 25 years ago.
