Experienced new boy Anthony Charles is hoping his experience will rub off on some of Town’s youngsters, writes Mark Wood.

The 32-year-old centre-half has well over 300 senior appearances to his name, winning the Conference title twice with Barnet and Aldershot.

He completes a potential back four of Conference champions along with Ronnie Henry, Steve McNulty and Scott Griffiths.

Charles said: “I think it’s always beneficial when you have a back four that have experience of what it’s like, how competitive the league can be at times.

“If you have four at the back who are aware of what can happen over the course of the season it’s what you need.

“If you use that in the right way it can help the other boys around us.

“Some won’t have experienced it or experienced playing in front of big crowds.”

Charles was captain during his time at the Shots and believes he can be a real example to some of Luton’s youngsters, while he also thinks there could be up to 10 teams vying for the Conference title this season.
