CAMPAIGNERS were celebrating this week after the Linslade Community Hall received a £50,000 boost to its refurbishment plans thanks to Biffaward, a multi-million pound fund that supports communities and transform lives through awarding grants to projects across the UK.
The hall’s restoration, which began in 2006, is in the third and final stage of refurbishment after a successful fundraising campaign was launched to restore the Victorian building to its former glory and allow its full use as a community facility.
The money will fund work to extensively re-model the interior of the property to create a new kitchen and small meeting rooms and to improve access and fire escape provision, and will also allow for rewiring and the installation of a central heating system. It is estimated the project will be completed in May.
