Children at St George’s Lower School in Leighton took part in the Young Writers Poetry competition earlier in the year.
They had to write a poem involving a living thing. They wrote the poems with Helen Hoare as part of their literacy study.
Five winners have now been selected whose work will be published in The Power of Poetry - Poets From the UK, of which the school will receive a free copy.
The competition was held by Young Writers to promote the Year of Reading.
The winners were Jordan Charlesworth, Lucy Scott, Ethan Hill, Joseph Ellis and Amy Lloyd-Culham.
A school spokesman said: “The children were extremely proud to have their work selected from all the thousands of entries.”
