Flytip by mobile on council website upgrade

Residents in Bucks can now report flytipping by taking a shot with their mobiles and sending it to a hotdesk which will investigate the matter.

It’s one of the innovations on the new revamped Bucks County Council website launched this week.

Anyone who sees flytipping can take a picture on their mobile phone and log it on the website www.buckscc.gov.uk/fly

The website is now more accessible on the go; easier to look up information, find local services and do business with the council on mobile equipment like iPads and smart phones.

There’s also an interactive map showing where you can find your local county councillor, along with services, like recycling centres, libraries, schools and wedding venues.

In the coming months there will be an easier-to-use ‘Report It’ feature for reporting highway problems like potholes, flooding and blocked drains.

County council leader Martin Tett said: “These are fantastic improvements, which do just what our residents tell us they want. We’re a modern council, and we need to use modern technology to make it easy for our residents to do business with us on any device at home and on the go. The more people can do online, the more we can save the council taxpayer.”

It has cost £148,000 to redevelop the website but it is estimated to save around £2,600 for every 1,000 phone callers who use the website instead of contacting the authority by traditional means.
