As a Thursday night treat, the news team assembled for a girls night out but little did we know what a bootylicious evening we had in store.
What Would Beyoncé Do? arrived at The Hat Factory in Luton last night as part of Luisa Omielan’s national tour - and boy did she create an impression.
As groups of women and the odd man tottered to their seats, it was only a matter of seconds until Luisa lit up the room with her natural wit and humour that left you in fits of giggles.
The show focused on the ups and downs of Luisa’s life as she highlighted the moments she felt inspired by the queen of pop while going through a bad break-up, struggling to get the job of her dreams and living at home with her Polish mum.
So as I looked on at the young woman shaking her booty across the stage and putting her heart and soul into every second of the show, it was clear to see a star in the making.
I think what stood out for me most was Luisa’s ability to instantly make a strong connection with the audience; allowing her to dart between heartfelt moments of sadness before we were suddenly catapulted back to tears of laughter.
And that’s life isn’t it? One minute you’re on cloud nine and the next minute the rug is pulled out from under you.
That is what Luisa’s show represents as she talks through the low points of her life, but using the power of humour, is able to relate to every single person in the audience.
I think that’s why she will be so successful because for a change someone is flying the flag for normal women - and more importantly - women are welcoming her with open arms instead of feeling resentful and jealous of her being in the spotlight.
Luisa was flooded with compliments as she greeted new fans after the show - including our news team who pounced on her for a picture to end our night out.
I left the venue feeling smug that I had the opportunity to see Luisa before she becomes a global superstar, just like her idol, Beyoncé, because this girl is going places.
