Flames took hold of a portable building at the back of a warehouse in Heath and Reach yesterday evening.
Fire crews from Leighton Buzzard tried to stop the fire from spreading to the warehouse on Woburn Road when they were called to the scene at 7.40pm.
The portable building was destroyed by the fire, which spread to a tree, fence and a shed that were all partially damaged by the flames.
Crew Commander for Leighton Buzzard fire service, John Field, said: “People had seen smoke, but thought it was someone’s chimney so there was a delay in calling us until they saw the flames.”
The fire was under control at the scene by 10pm.
