Budding entrepreneurs in town are being given a helping hand in launching their own businesses.

Leighton-Linslade Town Council is planning to open a pop-up “shop” in a bid to give someone a startup with their ideas.

Acting town clerk Mark Saccoccio said: “We are keen to promote the pop up shop principle for budding entrepreneurs by providing a location for them to trade from.

“Essentially, we want to set up in the first instance a marquee on market days that for a ridiculously low rent, would allow school children, school leavers adults etc who have a product to test the consumer market with.

“The idea originated from the Portas Pilot Bid that the town council submitted. We are keen to soft market test this in the first place before thinking about a permanent facility.

“We consider this another initiative that will contribute toward widening our town’s retail offer on market days.”

The town council’s partnership officer, Jo Martindale added: “Starting up in business can be both demanding and rewarding. We encourage both start-up as well as web-based businesses to consider taking advantage of this opportunity which the town council is very interested in supporting.”

Anyone interested should send the Jo (01525 631911) their name, address, contact phone number and business name as well as a brief explanation about the nature of the business and how the opportunity would help develop their idea.
