A Leighton duo who believe two minds are better than one are joining forces to trek to Mount Everest.
Sue Gardner and daughter Sally began their trek to Everest base camp on Friday to raise funds for Young Minds, the UK’s leading charity that aims to improve the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young people.
Sue, who is an independent driving instructor in Leighton, said: “I feel strongly that the Young Minds charity supports a very deserving cause and I want to do what I can to help.
“I have always wanted to trek in the Himalayas so was thrilled when my daughter started volunteering in Nepal.
“We are paying for all expenses including flights and accommodation so that 100% of donations go to the charity.”
Occupational therapist Sally has been volunteering in Nepal for the last six months working with young people in a mental health hospital in Kathmandu.
She said: “I am really looking forward to meeting up with my mum and embarking on our 15 day trek to base camp.”
