TWO men were chased off when they attempted to break into a house in Hillside Road, Leighton, on Saturday afternoon.
The intruders were seen by the homeowner as they tried to force open a back door at the property.
A spokesman for Bedfordshire Police said: “The lady shouted out and they ran off towards the Adam’s Bottom play area off Heath Road.
“We’re appealing for witnesses who may have seen the men running along the street at about 4.15pm to contact us on the new non-emergency line 101.”
The men were described as white. One was tall, stocky build, balding aged late 30s to early 40s and wore a black bomber jacket. The other was slightly shorter at about 5ft 9ins, late teens to early 20s.
