A Leighton woman who transformed from having a daily weight battle to becoming a slimming expert and teaching others how to do the same was awarded for her efforts by meeting her very own Mr Wright.
Kirsten Sheppard, 28, of Clipstone Crescent, a Slimming World consultant who runs weekly Slimming World groups at Leighton Buzzard’s Cricket Club and Salvation Army Church Hall, had the opportunity of meeting The Only Way is Essex’s Mark Wright.
The introduction happened recently at an annual awards ceremony to celebrate Slimming World’s most successful weight losses, which was presented by Mark, a self-confessed ladies man who is known for keeping in shape.
Kirsten, who has been working in Leighton’s branch since 2008 after shedding the pounds, said: “It helps doing my job because I am standing up in front of people trying to help them, so that gives me a lot of motivation. I love it, it’s the best job in the world.
“Meeting Mark was the perfect ending to a great year for the Leighton Buzzard Slimming World group. He is much more handsome in real life and really funny, much funnier than I thought he would be.
“He is very aware of what he looks like so he was quite a good choice of presenter on that front and is a bit of eye candy for the ladies.
“I knew who he was, but I had never watched TOWIE. He did win me over in the end though because he was so funny.”
The co-presenter of ITV2’s Take Me Out The Gossip, who joined Slimming World’s founder Margaret Miles-Bramwell OBE to host the ceremony said: “Presenting the Slimming World Awards was a real honour. I was absolutely blown away by the people who joined us on stage. I couldn’t believe how much weight they’d lost and what a difference it had made to their lives, they were like completely different people.
“In fact, throughout the day I met so many fantastic people, not only the slimmers collecting awards but also amazing people like Kirsten who run the Slimming World groups and help them achieve so much.
“Staying in shape is something that I have to work hard at myself and I know it’s not always easy, but from what I learned at the event Slimming World’s eating plan is such a great way to lose weight without feeling hungry.
“Everyone commented that having the support of someone like Kirsten and the group is really important too. I really feel the people of Leighton Buzzard are very lucky to have such a great support network on their doorstep.”
