Leighton Buzzard Arts Society is holding an exhibition at Leighton Middle School this Friday and Saturday (October 30-31).

The event is free to enter (Church Square entrance) and is open from 10am to 5pm on Friday and 10am to 4pm on the Saturday.

Work by local artists will be shown, ranging from amateur up to an internationally-renowned professional artist’s work.

The society is coming up to its 70th anniversary and have held art exhibitions in Leighton Buzzard at least once a year since 1946.

This year they were struggling to put on an exhibition after a problem sourcing affordable display screens, before Leighton- Linslade Town Council and the Leighton Arts Forum came to the rescue.

The council lent some screens for free, while the forum gave a grant for some more screens and hangers.

Leighton Buzzard Arts Society is open to anyone over 16 with an interest in art.

They meet once a month on a Thursday for demonstration evenings by well-known artists and also hold regular Saturday workshops.

New members are very welcome, whatever their ability. Members range from complete beginners to professional artists.
