There’s a chance for young people – and their parents – to find out about a whole range of youth organisations they might like to join.

Ten uniformed groups for young people in Beds will be represented at The Mall shopping centre from 10am on Friday, October 30.

The 10 groups have got together to form Bedfordshire Youth United, working together to make young people more aware of opportunities available to them. Bedfordshire Youth United was launched a year ago by Lord Lieutenant of Beds Helen Nelli.

The 10 organisations that make up the group are the Air Training Corps, Army Cadets, which has branches in Leighton Buzzard, Stanbridge and Dunstable, Boys’ Brigade, with groups in Aylesbury and Bletchley, Fire and Rescue Cadets, whose nearest branch is in Luton but is looking to expand, Girlguiding, Girls’ Brigade, Police Cadets, with branches in Houghton Regis and Luton, Scouts, Sea Cadets, which hasbranches in Dunstable and Flitwick and Amptill, and St John Ambulance.

Spokesman Nigel Taylor said: “Getting all of the organisations together gives young people and their parents a great opportunity to see a wide variety of activities available on their doorstep.

“It’s also a great chance for teenagers and adult volunteers to access some training they could later use in a CV.”
