A Girl Guide Leader from Leighton Buzzard found herself in an unusually famous company at Guides UK’s Big Gig last month, where she was surrounded with a galaxy of stars.

Meadway girl Jenny Forsyth, 23, got to mix it backstage with Matt Cardle, Olly Murs, The Saturdays and Rizzle Kicks as an artist liaison at the Birmingham gig.

She was tasked with calling the artists to the stage for their performances, as well as sure their dressing rooms and riders were exactly to taste.

And despite a very early start to the day, Jenny was grateful for the opportunity and hopes the experience could be the springboard to a career in the events and leisure industry.

“It was an amazing yet surreal experience,” the leader with 1st Leighton Buzzard Guides said. “To be up close to so many famous artists who you only ever really see on TV was incredible – I would definitely love to do it again.”

Jenny’s role entitled her to an ‘access all areas’ pass to the Big Gig and she also got to meet event host and children’s television presenter Helen Skelton – herself a former Brownie.

The event was hosted by super-daring children’s television presenter Helen Skelton, who is also a former Brownie.

Jenny was given an ‘access all areas’ pass to help with artist liaison.

The annual BIG GIG concert is for Girlguiding UK members aged 10 to 14 and taking part in the event is one of a number of opportunities open exclusively to members.
