A TV presenter made a Housecall to Linslade last week where she was greeted by the town’s famous feline, Fat Sammy, who recently appeared on Channel4’s Sunday Brunch.

Lowri Turner, who presented the BBC’s DIY SOS and Housecall, was in the neighbourhood to do a makeover on an old pal’s house.

The former Fashion Editor at the London Evening Standard has a real passion for building houses, which means she likes to move home after two or three years.

But her latest project will involve project managing a brand new kitchen for her old friend and work colleague Johnny McCune, of New Road, Linslade.

Lowri said: “Well when it’s perfect, it’s time to leave! I have driven my successive husbands and children mad with wanting to move houses so much, but I love it.

“I love turning a wreck into something really lovely; although it can be hell with all the builders at the start, but it’s like childbirth, you forget all that afterwards don’t you. I really like that reveal moment.

“I started my career in fashion and the reason I went into it was because you could turn a sow’s ear into a silk purse.

“When I was a teenager I was a dumpy and unattractive, but it was that post-punk era being very expressive with your clothes.

“So I loved that you could transform yourself with make-up, hair, and clothes and homes became a natural progression of that on a much bigger scale.”

Lowri added: “It was quite a big day for me meeting the Fat Sammy.“
