Developers have put in plans to build 36 flats on the site of a former snooker hall and dance studio opposite Leighton Buzzard Railway Station.
The outline scheme, planned by GHW Developers, of Hitchin, would see 24 two-bed flats, each with one allocated parking space, and 12 one-bed flats, built in three storey blocks.
The land, in Station Approach, Linslade, is a brownfield site and ideal, say the builders, for residential development.
They say the scheme meets government planning guidelines which state that there’s a “very strong presumption in favour of development where the proposal relates to new homes in a built up area.”
The land used to be a sack factory before being taken over by other uses.
It’s mainly now derelict and has been for sale for some time.
Full details of the plan would be decided later.
