A 56-year-old man from Leighton Buzzard was assaulted in his home after answering the door late at night.
The attack happened in Chestnut Hill between 12.45am and 1.08am on Tuesday when two men verified the victim’s identity before assaulting him and fleeing the scene.
The resident sustained facial bruising and a cut to his nose.
The officer in charge of this investigation, PC Lucy Austin, is keen to trace anyone who saw the two men in the Chestnut Hill area, late on Monday night or during the early hours of Tuesday morning.
PC Austin said: “Both the men were white, spoke with Irish accents and wore dark tops and jeans. The first was 6’ tall and approximately 35 years old and the second was 5’7” tall and approximately 20 years old.
“We are keeping an open mind as to why this assault happened and are appealing to anyone who was in the area that night to come forward if they saw two men matching these descriptions.”
