A 96-year-old man was the victim of a distraction burglary in Stoke Hammond yesterday after a man posing as a gardener stole nearly £300.
The white man, who is around 50 years old, talked his way into the victim’s house between 9.30am and 10.30am and was given over £60 for gardening work.
The pensioner left his wallet upstairs while the offender went into the back garden, but when the elderly man went to check on the offender, he found he had disappeared and taken his wallet containing £200.
Thames Valley Police are now appealing for witnesses who may have seen the offender who is 6ft tall, of slim to medium build, with brown hair with a scruffy appearance and was driving a blue van estate with a roof rack.
