Get ready for ghastly going-ons and horrible happenings at Leighton Buzzard Library!
The library is offering a monster amount of things to do to keep boredom at bay with its Creepy House Spectacular. Create spooky musical soundscapes with musicians from Inspiring Music, make your own monsters at arts and crafts workshops with inventive local artists, or dance into a frenzy with help from professional dance outfit, Dance Digital.
While you are there, why not scare yourself silly by reading some creepy tales. There are spine tingling adventures and hair-raising stories for children to discover in the Summer Reading Challenge, from classics such as Frankenstien to Winnie the Witch for younger readers. Spokesman for the Lake Street library, Melissa Williams, said: “We want to make the libraries a place of creativity and expression. As well as the workshops, we are encouraging children to read with stickers and rewards.”
Places are limited so ask a member of staff about booking your place. The programme is as follows:
> Thursday, August 1: Monstrous Music Workshops – Rattling bones, ghostly moans and creaking doors. Help transform the library into a creepy house and create a spooky musical soundscape to make your skin scrawl, with Inspiring Music (12noon to 1pm).
> Tuesday, August 6: Make Your Own Monsters – Create your own monster puppet with illustrator Kristina Bullen (10am to 11am).
> Tuesday, August 27: Dare to Dance sessions – A fun-filled hour of dance with Dance Digital (12noon to 1pm).
