Star striker Andre Gray used his summer duty with England C as a way of preparing himself for pre-season, writes Mark Wood.
The Hatters hotshot, created one, scored one and captained the Three Lions in their 6-1 victory in Hamilton, Bermuda, in June.
He said: “I think I took it as an opportunity to get back to fitness because I had had a few weeks off and been on holiday. It was good to get out there and get back to playing football.”
Gray much preferred it to the game in Russia a year before and is taking advantage of his time away to broaden his horizons.
He continued: “It’s a nice country and better than going to Russia! It’s another new experience for me and another learning curve.”
And he admitted time away with England C can be quite refreshing, adding: “I think especially through the off season it keeps you fit as well going out playing. It’s good to get away sometimes from your club and experience a different side to football.”
