There are homeless teddy bears in Leighton Buzzard … The Co-operative Funeralcare in the town is the guardian of over 20 cuddly toys, just waiting for a good home.
Well-behaved, toilet-trained and good with children, the teddy bears make a loving addition to any family and are waiting to be adopted.
Funeral arranger Theresa Cieslik is desperate to find good homes for these lovable animals. The adoption fee is a minimum £5 donation to Carers Trust, the Co-operative’s Charity of the Year.
Carers Trust - which formed last year when The Princess Royal Trust for Carers and Crossroads Care came together – aims to tackle feelings of isolation and provide desperately needed breaks, information, advice and support for 14-25 year-olds facing the challenges of caring.
At the same time, The Co-operative Funeralcare is encouraging people to thank a young carer by sending a message to the funeral home, which can be displayed in the funeral home’s window.
There are an estimated seven million unpaid carers across the UK and this year, The Co-operative aims to raise much needed money to transform the lives of the UK’s unpaid young adult carers – people in communities who are more than twice as likely not to be in education, employment or training, many of whom have not taken a break of two days or more since they started caring.
Anyone wishing to buy a teddy bear or send a message of thank you to a young carer should call into The Co-operative Funeralcare on Stanbridge Road. Call 01525 370272 or email leightonbuzzard@letsco-operate.com.
