Town chief John Still has vowed that young defender Alex Lacey won’t be going out on loan.
He’s been so impressed by the youngster that he has a real chance of making Town’ starting XI when the season starts.
Speaking after the 1-0 win at Maidenhead, he said: “I was quite pleased with some of the young ‘uns. I thought Lacey was outstanding, I really thought he was outstanding. I gave him a little bit with Macca (Steve McNulty) because Charlo’s (Anthony Charles) not fit and brought Ronnie in just in case something happens there and Smudge has had to play right-back. Scott’s not trained so we messed about with out back four a little bit, but they all done all right, particularly Alex Lacey, I thought he was very, very, very, very, very good!
“He certainly won’t be going out on loan that’s for sure.”
