LEIGHTON author John Newton opens a fresh chapter for writers in the town next week when a new group meets to discuss their work and ideas.
The Writing Room is booked into The Village Barn, off Leighton Road, Heath and Reach for this Monday evening and will meet after that on every second Monday of the month.
The group is the idea of author John Newton, of Taylor’s Ride who is a successful author, former broadcaster and policeman. His books, Kitchen Gangster, about Lancashire’s alleged rogue trader and kitchen supplier Vance Miller and the thriller White Sunrise, are best sellers and the writer is currently working on a new pulp fiction novel, The Assassination Diaries.
But he is also keen to encourage other talent in the Leighton area to meet and discuss their ambitions and ideas.
Said John: “The Heath Barn, the village hall in Heath and Reach, is the perfect place for writers and authors from Leighton-Linslade and the villages to meet and read for intelligent discussion of their work.
“If you write or wish to write novels, short stories, non-fiction or articles of any kind join in the first meeting and help start a new writers’ group dedicated to discussion, careful and sympathetic critique and possible improvement of your skill and approach to writing.
“All writers know it is difficult to talk their craft with people who don’t write. I found, through courses and lectures, that magic can happen when like-minded people come together in the proper atmosphere.
The inaugural meeting on Monday starts at 7.30pm.
