Slapton Wheelers have revealed that this year’s popular cycling event Ride to the Horns will be starting from Slapton.

It is for riders of all standards with a 26, 54 and 101-mile route taking in the hills and vales of Herts, Beds and Bucks.

Facilities and refreshments will be provided by Slapton’s Carpenters Arms pub and the Bury Farm Equestrian Centre.

The ride starts at 8am on Sunday, June 30. For more details and booking see www.wheelsinwheels.com or

www.slapton-wheelers.doomby.com.

TheSlapton Wheelers started in 2009 with a few friends going for a bike ride occasionally and over time more people joined the group.

In 2010 they participated in the London to Brighton and the group has grown from there. Their base is the Carpenters Arms where members meet prior to each training session and then often afterwards.

They now have 18 members that regularly ride together for training and participating in locally organised races.

The club values are having fun and keeping fit with the occasional serious side when we’re racing or going for a personal best on the famous “Wingrave Loop”… a 17.5 miler with a testing hill climb up Ivinghoe Beacon. The main focus is on road biking although we do have a few that mountain bike occasionally.
