They should have gone to Specsavers... and they did!

Leighton’s outgoing mayor Alan Brandham and players from Leighton Buzzard Rugby Club officially opened a newly fitted opticians in Leighton Buzzard.

Players from the team visited the revamped store to have their eyes tested by the latest optical equipment installed as part of the refit to the 18 Waterborne Walk premises, while helping to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. Store director, Ekta Kotecha, said: ‘We have been part of the town centre for nine years and our investment in new equipment will reaffirm our commitment to the local community. We’re very proud of our new-look store and look forward to welcoming customers.’

A buffet, cake sale and raffle was on offer to customers, with entertainment provided by the highly engaging Granny Turismo. In total £500 was raised, which will be split between Cancer Research UK, the store’s nominated charity, and the rugby club. In addition to the latest equipment, the opticians will also bring an updated selection of designer frames to the high street, including brands such as John Rocha, Emporio Armani, Aurora, Karen Millen, GW by Gok Wan, and Jasper Conran.
