A major event in the arts calendar takes place this weekend when Mentmore holds its fifth annual Arts Festival.
This year, for the first time, artists can compete for a new £200 award .
Participating artists have been invited to produce a work on the general theme of “Mentmore”and the public will vote to decide on the most popular.
Over 30 local artists will be exhibiting in St Mary’s Church and Mentmore Village Hall, with paintings, prints, photographs, sculpture, glass and pottery for you to view, enjoy and buy.
There are art classes being run on Saturday and Sunday in subjects like still life, portrait and landscape painting taken by local artists.
Drawing For The Petrified will enable even novices to draw with confidence, while the portrait painting class will improve artistic skill resulting in a finished self portrait to be proud of.
A children’s art corner will be running throughout the weekend. Youngsters can go along and be creative in a fun environment – and perhaps win a prize.
Over the past four festivals, a total of £19,500 has been raised for charity and this year the showcase for art is supporting the L & D stroke unit and smaller local good causes.
The preview is being held on Friday for exhibiting artists and guests.
The Mentmore Arts Festival takes place from 11am-5pm Saturday-Monday.
