A man who got himself trapped in a Leighton river on bank holiday Monday had to be rescued by fire crews after getting his friend to call for help.
The 54-year-old was saved by Leighton Buzzard fire crews using a nine-metre ladder after being called to the river that runs through the rear of Falcon Mews off Stanbridge Road.
It is understood the man got stuck after trying to remove furniture from the river so it would not harm the ducks.
Crew Commander Chris Janes, who attended the scene, said: “He had got very cold and cramped, so with a bit of persuasion we managed to pull him out.
“We wrapped him up in a foil blanket and he was fine.”
