Top veteran cyclist to hit local streets

Leighton Buzzard Road Cycling Club has made its mark on the world of UK cycling by securing the privilege of hosting the LVRC National Road Race Cycling Championships.

Although the club has only existed for two years, Wayne Thomas, who is an experienced organiser of races, plus a recent new member of LBRCC, has got the approval of local authorities for the club to host the event locally on July 6.

The League of Veteran Racing Cyclists provides competitive racing across the United Kingdom for the over 40s (male and female) with riders grouped by age in five-year age groups and it is the only cycling body dedicated to doing so.

The entries closed a few weeks ago with full fields of 50 entrants per race, plus reserves making over 200 of the UK’s top over 40 road racers.

LBRCC will be hosting four races in the 40-59 age group, based on a 7.7 mile circuit through Wing, Soulbury and Stewkley which will be covered up to nine times to total 70 miles of action-packed racing on the day.
