TV comedian and presenter Rory McGrath is joining a talented line-up for the third annual Heartswitch, a charity show organised by Wing resident Hayden Purcell who underwent a life-saving heart transplant at the world renowned Harefield Hospital.

Hayden, a musician, and fellow transplant success Reena Patalay, have seen the show grow from an impromptu performance in a town square to a major event at Aylesbury’s Waterside Theatre being held, this year, on May 25.

There will be two performances - a matinee and an evening show all backed by the Ambassador Theatre Group, which runs the Waterside, and Aylesbury Vale District Council.

The line-up includes last year’s Britain’s Got Talent, semi-finalist, comedian Callum Oakley, the Rock Chorus, and band, Orchestral Manoeuvres In Jazz. McGrath will perform a set of comedy songs with actor/composer, Philip Pope, whose son Will had a heart Transplant at Harefield in 2012. There’s also magic and dance.

Libby Gould, a talented multi-instrumentalist and singer from the Netherlands, a lifelong friend of Hayden’s, will also be appearing. Haydenb will be performing a set of mainly original songs as a solo artist.

Throughout the day, musicians and close-up magicians will be performing in the foyer, café, bars and communal areas of the theatre.

Said Hayden: “The shows promise to have broad appeal and it is hoped that not only will people be encouraged to join the donor register, they will raise much needed funds for the Harefield Hospital scanner appeal.”
