Thames Valley Police is appealing for information from residents following a series of burglaries in rural Aylesbury Vale.
Since October 1 last year 2012 to the end February there have been a total of 29 burglaries in Aylesbury Vale where thieves have targeted jewellery.
Offenders are targeting unoccupied houses, on different days of the week, in the day between 11am-4pm.
The intruders gain entry to houses, carry out an untidy search, stealing valuable jewellery and small electrical items such as laptops.
A description given of potential offenders was on January 14 in Pitstone where three men were seen with a white van, possibly with red sign writing.
Det Insp Simon Steel said: “We urge homeowners to keep their valuable jewellery in an approved safe.
“It is also important to photograph the jewellery so that if it is stolen the police will have a clear description of the items.”
He urged the public to take simple crime prevention advice such as using timer switches for lamps and a radio, don’t leave valuables on view, check window and door security, use forensic marking on valuables and ensure precious items are adequately covered by insurance.
Anyone with any information about these rural jewellery burglaries should contact Det Insp Steel by using the 24-hour Police Enquiry Line 101. Alternatively contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
