Passionate teenagers went head to head at the climax of a 15-month battle over the proposal for a wind farm near Stoke Hammond.
The young women were speakers at the Aylesbury Vale District Council committee which rejected plans submitted by Force 9 Energy.
Eighteen-year-old Grace Turner, of Stoke Hammond, made a plea for councillors to refuse plans to build the four 125m high wind turbines at Dorcas Lane, which were described as being three times the height of Milton Keynes’ Xscape.
Grace said: “Obviously I am extremely pleased with the result on Wednesday, however I do realise that this could still be appealed... As they say ‘we have won the battle, but not the war’.
“The reason I wanted to speak was because my family’s house would be one of the most affected in the area.
“My concern is that if this site goes ahead it will be one of many setting a precedent.
“It is possible that very soon we could have our beautiful landscape covered with these monstrosities.”
But Jess Flack, 17, of Stewkley, disagreed. After door-to -door campaigning to collect an overall view of the people affected by the wind farm, Jess found that approximately 75 per cent either supported or were impartial to the proposal.
She said: “I felt like if everyone else can have their say, then why can’t I?
“I know that because I am young I got a lot of attention about it, so I knew I had the opportunity to make an impact.
“It’s not about being proud of myself. I don’t understand why more people aren’t involved. I’m quite disappointed, but at the same time I am not because I’m sure it will go to appeal.”
