Victoria Wood & Me is a one woman show, starring Mo Shapiro that comes to Leighton Buzzard Theatre tomorrow night with funds going to Brain Tumour Research,
The performance is a tribute to one of Britain’s top writers and comics and is guaranteed to make you laugh out loud!
Victoria Wood has given her permission to include her songs and some famous monologues delivered by characters we all took to our hearts like Kitty, the Sacharel sales assistant and Madeleine the hairdresser. Mo Shapiro is a regular performer with Northampton Royal & Derngate Actors
Company.
The story is all about Gladys Winter who is Victoria Wood’s biggest fan. They were born on the same day, in the same year, at the same hospital. In fact they could almost be twins! Victoria Wood’s genius for finding the comic in everyday life has cheered Gladys’ otherwise ordinary life. So much so that she has developed the uncanny knack of going into a Victoria Wood sketch or song at the slightest sign of trouble.
So come and meet Gladys along with a host of Victoria Wood’s best loved characters for a night of guaranteed laughter.
Victoria Wood & Me stars Mo Shapiro as Gladys Winter and everyone else!
Leighton mayor, Councillor Alan Brandham, and South West Beds MP Andrew Selous have confirmed that they will be in the audience. Mo is suggesting that theatre-goers may like to consider wearing a hat for the performance and make a donation of a £1 or more to Brain Tumour Research which will be holding its annual Wear A Hat Day for brain tumours on Thursday.
Crispin Zeeman, spokesman for Brain Tumour Research, said:“We are very grateful to Mo for supporting our charity. More children and adults under the age of 40 die of a brain tumour than any other cancer, yet research into brain tumours is woefully underfunded, with less than one per cent (0.7 per cent) of national cancer research spending going on research into brain tumours”.
The show starts at 8pm. for tickets call the box office 0300 300 8125.
