It was another unforgettable weekend for a Linslade man who made his mark on another sporting event just seven months after his Olympic closing ceremony performance.
And that’s because 21-year-old Dale Lee, of St Mary’s Way, performed as part of the London Welsh Male Voice Choir at the Six Nations 2013 rugby decider between Wales and England on Saturday at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
Dale said: “The whole experience was so surreal.
“There was a giant weight of tradition weighing down on our shoulders as it has been our choir that were invited on the two previous occasions that Wales have denied England the Grand Slam in the final (game).”
But Dale didn’t let the pressure stand in his way of starting their pre-match entertainment and performing the national anthems with his choir just before kick-off.
He said: “It was then that I realised that I was part of history. The atmosphere in the stadium was electric, you could tell that all of Wales were behind their team and that they were really up for the upcoming battle.
“It was such a thrill to join in all the songs echoing around the stadium, surrounded by members of my choir.”
Last year the aspiring singer wowed the Olympic crowds alongside the Welsh Male Voice Choir as they collaborated with the London Welsh Rugby Club Choir to sing the Olympic Anthem while the Olympic flag was lowered by members of the Armed Forces. Dale added: “It was one of the best weekends of my life.
“To have the opportunity to perform at some of the greatest sporting events in recent memory, London 2012 closing ceremony last year, Six Nations Grand Slam decider this year. Bring on 2014!”
