With around 80 million chocolate eggs likely to be consumed this Easter, the énergie fitness club in Leighton Road is asking everyone in Leighton Buzzard a new and very important question - how big is your chocolate footprint?
While the words ‘carbon footprint’ have become part of everyday life, energie is aiming to aide our health by running an Easter Egg Amnesty during March where all collected chocolate will be donated to the Bedfordshire-based Happy Days children’s charity.
Lee Toon, manager of the club said: “Although understandably not quite as beneficial for the health of the planet as it’s carbon counterpart, chocolate offsetting has the potential to improve the health of all those living on it who aren’t always quite able to resist the temptation of a little sweet indulgence.”
Lee added: “When it comes to our eating habits, Easter can be a risky time. There is nothing wrong with having a treat, but people need to think wisely about their diet overall, include more fruits and vegetable and exercise regularly.
“We’re not saying that people shouldn’t eat chocolate, it’s one of life’s pleasures, but it’s important to eat well and to exercise regularly.”
Bring an Easter Egg to the club in return for a free joining fee, what’s more all the spare eggs and calories will go to Happy Days and not on your waist.
The eggs will then be given to many local Befordshire based children with severe learning difficulties so they can enjoy an Easter to remember courtesy of your donation.
