Theatre fans who enjoy visiting new and nearby venues should check out the Wycombe Swan’s spring programme.

The choice stretches from classical ballet and side-splitting comedy to magical musicals and thought-provoking plays.

January is a great month for music lovers with Mozart by Candlelight, Think Floyd, Abba Forever and Back to Broadway.

The Moscow City Ballet return with two signature pieces of their repertoire - Swan Lake and The Nutcracker.

Later in the season the stirring WW1 drama, Birdsong, is staged. It’s a mesmerising story of love, courage and sacrifice from the pen of Sebastian Faulks’s (and a bit of a weepie so you’ve been warned!).

The dynamic ensemble company includes award-winning actress Sarah Jayne Dunn (Drop Dead Gorgeous, Hollyoaks), Charlie G Hawkins (Eastenders), Arthur Bostrom (‘Allo, Allo), Tim Van Eyken (War Horse), Tim Treloar (National Theatre, RSC) and newcomer Jonathan Smith.

In February the venue challenges the public to be record-breakers in the science-mad live show of Guinness World Records: Officially Amazing Science Live!

Matthew Bourne’s haunting new production of Sleeping Beauty runs at the end of February.

A month later you can spend an evening with one of the world’s best-loved musical theatre stars when Ruthie Henshall appears in a retrospective of her career

Other shows come from psychic Sally Morgan, the Moscow State Circus, the delicious and hilarious Hairy Bikers, everyone’s favourite adventurer Dora the Explorer (perfect for younger audience members), comics Shazia Mirza and Rich Hall, and Chas & Dave.

The stage production of Yes, Prime and the West End’s original and favourite ‘70s musical, Boogie Nights, featuring The Osmonds, Gareth Gates, Andy Abraham, Louisa Lytton, Chico and Shane Richie Jnr, complete the season.
