An assistant Headteacher at a Leighton Buzzard school is retiring after 37 years of service.
Mrs Ann Heming who taught at Brooklands School, of Brooklands Drive, has taken the decision to retire after 37 years service to the school and the local community.
Ann first came to the school to teach O Level Needlework to girls followed by Cookery and later in her career she became part of the English Department. The well-respected teacher was promoted to Assistant Headteacher five years ago where she undertook Child Protection and pastoral care duties and continued to have a positive influence on thousands of young people, most of whom will have very fond memories of her and her husband Peter, who also taught at the school.
Ann said: ”I feel priveledged to have served the local community and school. I have worked with some truly committed teachers and have taken great pleasure in following the progress of so many students into adult life.”
Steve Harrington-Williams, Headteacher, said: “Personally, I will miss the support and friendship I have received from Ann over the last 10 years that I have been at the school. The space left by Ann’s retirement will be a difficult one to fill, however, I would like to wish Ann and Peter a really great retirement.
“The staff, students and parents will miss Ann for the support she has given them as a teacher and a friend.”
