Staff at estate agency Connells in Leighton Buzzard have put their hearts and soles into charity this Christmas by taking part in the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Shoebox Appeal for a sixth year running.

Employees from the company’s head office at Cumbria House and Market Square branch in Leighton Buzzard wrapped and filled 48 boxes full of gifts for some of the world’s most disadvantaged children. The estate agent, whose branch is on the town’s Market Square, also collected donations from members of the public for the campaign.

Connells spokesman Matthew Solesbury, who co-ordinated the appeal, said: “We have been supporting this very worthy cause for the past six years and the generosity of staff and the public is still as outstanding today as it was when we began. I’d like to thank everyone who made a donation to this year’s appeal and I’m sure there will be lots of very happy children this Christmas.”

Operation Christmas Child is the UK’s largest children’s Christmas appeal and has been running since 1990. For each of the past 12 years, over one million shoeboxes filled with toys, educational supplies and hygiene items have been sent from within the UK to children in disadvantaged situations in Africa, Central Asia and Eastern Europe.
