The front man of Leighton-based band Kajagoogoo has reportedly flown out to Australia to appear on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

Reports suggest that singer, Christopher Hamill better known by his stage name Limahl, will be a late-edition to the camp in the next few days after he parachutes into the jungle alongside chef Rosemary Shrager.

Fellow Kajagoogoo member Nick Beggs, 50, of Plantation Road, Leighton, has spoken exclusively to the Leighton Buzzard Observer about his bandmate’s venture into the jungle.

Nick said: “When I heard Limahl was going into the jungle I was very happy for him as I know this is something he’s wanted for a long time.

“I hope he finds the experience rewarding. Most people seem to get something profound out of it.

“Yes I have been asked to take part in a few reality TV shows, but it’s not something I’m personally interested in, though my wife and children always tell me I should!”

Although most famously known for playing the Chapman Stick, Nick recently started a new chapter of his life when he launched a new series of children’s books, Dangerous Potatoes, last month.

He added: “At the moment I’m focus on creating awareness for my children’s books Dangerous Potatoes which I believe have massive film potential.

“Also touring extensively with Rick Wakeman, Kim Wilde and Steven Wilson keeps me occupied all year round, oh and my 5 children and wonderful wife.”

Limahl will join the likes of Eric Bristow, Colin Baker, Hugo Taylor, Brian Conley, David Haye, Linda Robson, Helen Flanagan and Charlie Brooks as he sees how he fares up against the Australian creepy crawlies.

The reality television show is currently hitting the headlines because the MP of Mid-Bedfordshire Nadine Dorries has caused controversy after she chose to live in the jungle, instead of the House of Commons for the next three weeks.
