The Leighton Buzzard Canal Society are having a film show jointly with the Leighton Buzzard Narrow Gauge Railway on Friday, November 16.
This will be held in Dobbers Restaurant at Pages Park, Billington Road, starting 7.15pm for a 7.30pm prompt start.
The films will be shown by the legendary Frank Banfield who manages often to manipulate two projectors maintaining a more or less continuous show till approx 10pm.
It’s a transport-related evening entitled Trains, Boats and Canals and entry costs a modest £2.50. Refreshments will be available and there will also be a raffle.
The Canal Society was formed in 1984 by a small band of concerned boat owners and friends to stimulate an interest in the traditional working of the canal and its people, in particular, the Grand Union Canal passing through Linslade. The society run various visits throughout the year to places of canal and transport interest, and hold meetings for like-minded members, usually in The Globe Inn, Linslade.
Membership is £5 per annum for ‘all classes’. The secretary produces a newsletter entitled ‘Winding Point’ quarterly and members engage in their photography, some own boats, bringing together an eclectic mix of ages and interests would suit any interested parties.
