Jaded Hatters striker Andre Gray admitted England C’s shambolic trip to Albania last week did eventually catch up with him at the Abbey Stadium, writes Mark Wood.
A massive downpour left the first pitch England C were due to play on Wednesday night unplayable and they never even reached a second suggested venue, while ironically the senior England team’s game in Poland was also postponed because of the weather – despite the stadium having a retractable roof.
You would never have guessed as the 21-year-old was in electric form on Saturday, regularly tearing Cambridge United’s defence to shreds as he scored the first and laid on the second.
He said: “I think Albania took it out of everyone. One of the Cambridge boys came as well and it was a long few days for us.”
