Staff from Leighton’s Wilkinson store took part in a football tournament against other branches of the firm to raise money for charity.
The action raised more than £400 for the Willen Hospice, based in Milton Keynes, which provides specialist care for people whose illness no longer responds to treatment.
Clare Smith, store manager of the High Street branch, said: “We couldn’t be more pleased that we are supporting Willen Hospice, which we as a team nominated as our regional charity of the year.
“Our store team had a lot of fun playing in the football tournament and it is great to see that our efforts were supported, through the money raised so far.”
The Leighton Buzzard store played teams from Hemel Hempstead, High Wycombe, Reading and Luton, as well as a regional managers’ team.
The Leighton Buzzard team won all of its opening matches, but finished in third place after beating the regional managers team.
Paul Hinston, chief executive, at Willen Hospice, said: “Having such a large and community orientated company like Wilkinson choose us to be its regional charity of the year is truly fantastic for us.
