One of the largest business fairs ever to be held in Leighton will be opening its doors to people – without asking for a penny in entry fees.
Leighton Buzzard Business Fair 2012 has been organised by the town’s business networking group, LB Connect, which has a non-profit policy.
The exhibition features 56 local businesses and the event will be attended by representatives from government, local authorities, trade organisations and business gurus.
This includes Leighton-Linslade Town Mayor, Councillor Alan Brandham and other members of the Town Council, as well as South West Beds MP Andrew Selous and representatives from Bedfordshire Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Small Businesses.
Stephen Cotter, who has held several national senior management posts in the retail industry and is currently councillor for St George’s Ward in Leighon Buzzard, will give the second keynote speech.
LB Connect will also be be presenting a cheque for ‘a substantial sum’ to Leighton Linslade Homeless Service, which has been raised through fundraising efforts, profits from the exhibition and the generosity of local people.
Bob Chandler, chairman of LB Connect, said: “We are looking forward to meeting lots of local business people at what I am certain will be an excellent networking opportunity for all.
“Many exhibitors are offering substantial discounts on the night and there will be a chance to win some great prizes, including a BMW Mini.
Other prizes in the visitors’ draw include £50 of fresh flowers, two 90 minute driver assessments and remedial packages, a meal for two, computer accessories and more.
Mr Chandler added: “We held a smaller but highly successful show 18 months ago and learned a great deal from that experience.
“We have been planning this event ever since and are confident that it will have something of interest for every business in the area. With the recent decision to waive the entrance fee we are looking forward to meeting even more business visitors on the night.”
The exhibition will feature a wide variety of local businesses from accountants to web designers and electricians to utility providers and refreshments will be available.
The Fair takes place at Cedars Upper School sports hall, Linslade, from 6-8pm on Wednesday, September 26 and for more information visit www.lbconnect.co.uk
